About Invasion Island
Invasion Island approaches Irish history as lived experience rather than distant record. Its focus is not solely on events, but on the pressures that shaped them: belief, power, survival, and consequence.
The project draws inspiration from Lebor Gabála Érenn — The Book of Invasions — which presents Ireland’s past as a sequence of arrivals, struggles, and transformations bound to place, memory, and identity.
Rather than isolating moments in time, Invasion Island traces how invasions, internal conflict, and cultural upheaval echoed across generations, shaping identity and memory long after the battles ended.
This work examines how Ireland remembers itself — and how those memories endure, change, or are obscured over time.

Why does Invasion Island exist?
Ireland’s history is often simplified, romanticised, or reduced to fragments. Entire periods are overlooked, and the human cost of conflict, belief, and power is rarely explored with seriousness.
Invasion Island exists to restore weight to these stories—to present Ireland’s past as it was lived, contested, and remembered, without dilution.

What Invasion Island Is
Invasion Island is not a blog, a fantasy project, or academic history.
It is a story-driven exploration of Ireland’s past, grounded in historical sources and shaped by narrative craft. The work moves across books, artwork, and long-form projects, using atmosphere and storytelling to bring historical moments into sharper focus.

Where the Story Begins
We began this storyworld with Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontarf, a defining moment that continues to shape how Ireland understands itself, conflict, and legacy.
The project was initially slated as a short film and was almost greenlit, with Timothy V. Murphy cast to play Brian Boru. But when that fell through, the decision was made to adapt it into a novella.
From 'The Forgotten Prince', Invasion Island expands outward—across Ireland's history, mythology and folklore.

Looking Ahead
In time, Invasion Island will extend beyond the page. The project will develop immersive, small-group journeys rooted in the same historical moments explored in its stories, with participants walking the landscapes where these events unfolded.
These experiences are in development and will be introduced carefully, with the same attention to history, place, and atmosphere.
